Cross-Country Running Game

Alpha 4


Introduction
=============
This is alpha 4 of our current project, based on the sport of cross-country running.  More of the features are now implemented, but there still are features missing.  The tile engine and map editor are getting closer to completion.  We recently added the particle system for collisions and the new menu system.  Graphics for starting and ending the race are now in place, but are lacking functionality.  Please remember that this product is nowhere near production quality.


System Requirements
=============
Not extensively tested, but it works fine on our AMD Duron 800mhz.  Let us know what your results are.


Controls
=============
Playing:
  Up Arrow - Run forward
  Right/Left Arrow - Turn runner (in this case a penguin-for debug purposes)

Map Editing:
 ESC   - Exit
 Alt   - Attempt to steal a flag
 Space - Spit
 E Key - Toggle map editing on and off
 T Key - Start up the timer
 N Key - New map, clears the screen to empty (magenta)
 C Key - Clear all the flags off the map
 K Key - Clear all the sodas off the map
 # Key - Change level being edited (1, 2, 3 keys above alpha characters)
 L Key - Load the simple, default map
 S Key - Save current map (overwrite) 


Yet to be done
=============
- Physics of bouncing off a pole
- Implement AI for enemies
- Add more landscape items such as tents and spectators
- Change speed depending on terrain
- Lots of other stuff...when time allows
