Introduction Fractal Explorer is a tool that can be used to generate images for mathematical, graphical, or other purposes. It can provide you with accurate and colorful fractal graphics. This program uses the "Mandelbrot Set." Go learn about it! Owners Manuel When you start, move the mouse. You should see an odd crosshair. Trust me, that is a mouse pointer! Left click anywhere and drag to box in an area and then press enter to zoom into it. Right click anywhere to zoom out and re-center in the location clicked. Press P to enter the properties screen. From there you can drag the bars with the mouse to change different settings. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are Red, Green, and Blue color values. The 4th shows the mixture of these colors, and you don't drag this one. The 5th (purple) is the detail level. Use it to veiw the interesting patterns of the fractal with more accuracy. The 6th (yellow) is the color curve. It furthers the border accuracy at the cost of non-border accuracy. The non-border areas are brightened. The next 3 bars are the newest additions. The 1st and 2nd control the looping of the colors. Try them out! Be slow with the 3rd bar, for 1 pixel of change warps the fractal a lot! On to the other keys: U and R undo and redo. Backspace resets the fractal to the primary position. S to save and L to load. O loads an older version fractal. Press Q to take a screenshot and W to take a high-quality screenshot. If you zoom in too far, causing the fractal generation to mess up, then press undo. Oh, D is the debug key that will probably prove useless to you. |
